How verification works

What is a Decision Keep receipt?+

A receipt is a signed, tamper-evident record of a single automated decision. It contains the content hash, chain hash, Ed25519 signature, and optional RFC 3161 timestamp. Any auditor can verify it offline against the organisation's published key.

Do I need an account to verify a receipt?+

No. Verification is fully trustless and offline. You only need the receipt ID and the organisation's published public key. No login, no account, no trust in Decision Keep required.

How does verification work?+

The verifier reconstructs the decision's content hash, checks the chain binding to the previous entry, verifies the Ed25519 signature against the organisation's published key, and optionally validates the RFC 3161 timestamp. All checks run in your browser or via the API.

Can I verify a receipt if the organisation's ledger is private?+

Yes. Targeted verification works for any receipt that exists in the ledger, regardless of the organisation's ledger visibility setting. You only need the receipt ID. Browsing the full ledger requires the organisation to set ledger_visibility to public.

What happens if a receipt has been erased?+

Erased receipts show a signed erasure proof. The content is removed, but the chain anchor and erasure signature are preserved. The verifier reports 'Lawfully erased' with the erasure details, so auditors can confirm the deletion was intentional and signed.

Can auditors download an attestation report?+

Yes. After verifying a receipt, auditors can export the full ledger and attestation. For organisations that need deeper compliance coverage, independent audits and eIDAS-qualified trusted time are available as part of an enterprise engagement.
